Missions Overview

We are
committed to cross-cultural missions with a
particular focus on Spain and Mexico. In order
to be effective in our efforts to reach both of
these nations with the love of Christ, and the
power of the Gospel, we participate in two
collaborative cross-cultural ministries.
International
Association of Missions (IAM)
The
International Association of Missions (IAM) is a
regional partnership of Vineyard churches from
New England co-laboring for the purpose of:
-
Planting Vineyard churches in Spain
-
Developing a church planting movement in
Spain
-
Raising up national leaders to see that
movement flourish
There are three
primary ways you can participate in IAM:
1. Associate Member
This
means providing financial and prayer support on
a regular basis. As an associate member you’ll
learn about world missions, hear about
opportunities to minister in Spain, such as
annual Prayer Tour, receive updates from pastors
in Spain and news of new church plants, and
receive a subscription to La Cosecha –
IAM’s semi-annual newsletter.
2.
Annual Prayer Ministry Tour
This
means joining with friends and family from New
England Vineyard churches and going to Spain for
an integrated one week or two week prayer tour.
These Prayer Ministry Tours are usually
scheduled in the spring (March-April).
3. Regional Prayer
Gatherings
This
means gathering together regionally with other
believers to pray for Spain, for part of a
weekend, typically Friday evening and Saturday
morning, at one of the Vineyard churches in New
England.
Extreme Missions
Extreme Mission is a Vineyard cross-cultural
mission endeavor mobilizing young people to
experience and affect the world.
Extreme Mission’s Goals and Priorities:
-
To help youth catch God’s heart for the nations, by emphasizing
mission as a passion not just a trip
-
To give youth groups the opportunity to share an experience
together, so that they become a
“missional” community all year long
-
To give pastors and youth leaders an
opportunity to invest an entire week in the
field equipping and training their youth in
Kingdom ministry
-
To help young people evaluate their life
purpose and calling in the light of what God
is doing in His mission around the world
-
To give youth a chance to experience God’s
heart of compassion for the poorest of the
poor, and those lost without Him.
-
To facilitate an opportunity with other
youth from around the country
-
To help National churches reach out to their
communities and strengthen their local
churches. A special effort is made to
include National youth in every event.
Teens from VCFGP get involved in Extreme Mission
annually by attending a Youth Conference in El
Paso, Texas before participating in a Mission
Outreach in Mexico to one of a number of
destinations that include Northern Chihuahua,
the Central Mountains of Chihuahua, and Baja
California.
Extreme Mission 2006: Special Features
-
Creation of a huge “tent city” at the
conference site in El Paso, TX
-
Nightly outdoor worship concerts
-
An additional day for outreach
-
First-step U.S. outreach option that
includes the conference, plus an outreach in
El Paso.
This
will be the sixth year that the Teens of VCFGP
have participated in Extreme Mission. In 2005 we
took a record group of 25 teens and 5 leaders,
and had an amazingly fruitful time. This year
promises to be another amazing adventure of
faith as Vineyard youth learn what it means to
be a generation marked by extreme mission.
