1.Worship is a heartfelt response of
total abandonment toward God, a pouring
out of our love and affection,
thanksgiving and praise to the God who
created us and died for us.
2. Worship transpires when, the
community of believers gather together
in gratitude, thankfulness and
with various heartfelt means of
expressions to God. (Ephesians

History in Music
Initially I learned
to play acoustic guitar when I was 29
years old though I had
dabbled with it off and on over the
years. It took a solid year of lessons
and a lot of practice to get me to the
point I am now. I
have also learned to play bass
though no one ever
asks me to play! Occasionally, I'll pull out
my penny whistle (I am enamored by
Celtic music). Even though I don't play
it, my favorite instrument is the lead guitar.
History in Worship
I got involved in worship with Marty
O'Brien's church (Hope Chapel) in the
early & mid eighties. This later would
become the first Vineyard church plant
in the state of Maine. When the worship
team left, there was no one to lead
except me. I had no clue what I was
doing in those early years except
I had a strong sense that God had called
me to lead people into his presence. I
later became the worship leader with VCF of
Lewiston where I served for four years
developing the worship format. I
sensed the call to take on a new
position with a fresh church plant in
Portland in 1993 with Phil & Janet Strout. We were
in Portland for almost
9 years before Mario & Ruth Maston
eventually took over the reins of
senior pastor.
Favorite Music
My favorite band of all time has got to
be the Beatles. My favorite musician of
all time is definitely Paul McCartney.
My wife and I saw him live at the MGM
Grand in Las Vegas back in April 2002. I
also enjoy Eric Clapton and a host of
other musicians. My favorite female
singer is Karen Carpenter (okay, all you Carpenter closet people,
you can come out now). She had the voice
of an angel! Rich Gouette ranks as
my favorite Spiritual musician as well
as Ben Hancock. My
favorite drummer has to be my son Nathanael.
Man
can that kid drum! If I didn't mention
your names, it is for lack of space.
Delirious is my favorite Christian band
and a host of others.
About Jim
I was
born in Los Angeles California and grew up
in the midst of the hippie movement.
I saw
the Jesus people movement and learned
to surf in the surf mecca of So.
California, Hermosa Beach. Later, I moved to San Diego
for a while before moving to Maine in 1978.
It was then I met my
sweetheart, Lori, and subsequently married
her on September 19th 1979. In 1982
our first child, Shanna was born (she was our New
Years day baby). Next was Nathanael in August
of 1986. Shanna has since married Chad
Perreault in August of 2005.
We left Portland in March of 2001
and took a position out in North San
Diego, Ca as worship pastor at the VCF
inland North County. I sensed the call to
return to Maine in August of 2004 and
subsequently returned to the Vineyard of
greater Portland. We make our home
in Gorham, Maine. I am a construction worker by trade
and my expertise is in tiling.
I Love to surf, throw pottery on the
wheel and play guitar and music. I
am completely Hooked on VW's.
My favorite memory
(and still love to do) is traveling across
the country with my wife Lori.
